Immerse in an authentic Vietnamese culinary experience

On 7 November 2019, a cooking class was held in the one and only The Rhythms Restaurant of La Sinfonía del Rey Hotel - featuring the traditional Vietnamese dish “Nem Cuon” - Vietnamese Fresh Spring Rolls, one of the quintessential signatures of Vietnamese cuisine. The cooking class welcomed the participation of guests coming from many countries around the world and hosted by Executive Chef of The Rhythms Restaurant - Mr. Hai.

With complete immersion in local culture, the 45-minute cooking class started with a brief introduction to the Vietnamese Fresh Spring Rolls. Consisting of pork, prawn, vegetables, rice vermicelli, and other ingredients wrapped in Vietnamese rice paper, the Fresh Spring Rolls have become a popular staple in many homes of the Vietnamese people. Present in cozy everyday family meals, to big special occasions and celebrations, to elevated 5-star starters in restaurants, this versatile delicacy has always been an indispensable element in the Vietnamese cultural fabric. The class followed a cookery demonstration by Chef Hai as he showed the guests step by step how to make a fresh spring roll. During the process, Chef Hai emphasized on the use of the different Vietnamese herbs which added to the variety of textures and layers of freshness of the Spring Rolls. The guests showed great enthusiasm and interest throughout the session and were eager to recreate the dish. After the guests finished making their own Vietnamese Spring Rolls, Chef Hai guided them on how to decorate and present the dish in true Vietnamese style. At the end of the class, each person was acknowledged with a certificate of completion and a group photo was taken as a gift of fond reminiscence. The cooking class was a success and left the guests with unforgettable memories during their stay at La Sinfonía del Rey Hotel.
